Monday Again
Hello all faithful blog readers. Your reading and comments mean so much! Thank you for surrounding Brian and Emily with your love. I (Katie) am about to head to the hospital but wanted to update you on some things that you can pray for. Here in the north tip of Manhattan, there are various rules and regulations for parking. So, when the streets are being cleaned you have to move your car. I drove around for quite some time this morning trying to find a spot with no luck, but began to pray... I returned home and looked out the window and saw a spot open right beneath the apartment on the correct side of the street, but when I ran back to my car to get the spot, I realized that it would take a good long while to get to the right place with all the one ways streets and lights. So, I figured it would be taken but decided to chance it. I was right, a car had pulled into the one available spot. "Lord- you know the way, you know where the spots are, I am a foreigner in this city!!" I muttered and took a deep breath before going another round. Just as I was about to pass the apartment, a car turned on, a person got in the passenger side, and a green minivan pulled out of a more perfect spot. The workings of it all got my attention. A good reminder that through all of this, there is a best way, God knows it, and we have to TRUST him even when all circumstances completely baffle us. I like this quote a friend gave me this summer
"It may be, that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work. And when we no longer know where to go, we have come to our true journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings" Wendell Berry.
There is a lot of singing that is going on around here. Yesterday two other high school friends of Emily's visited her. For a girl who knew no one is in this "concrete jungle," she certainly has a lot of friends! I know that they are lifted up by each friend, each word of encouragement, each and every prayer. Thank you all for your support.
Here are some prayer requests for today:
Pray for Emily, she had a rough weekend with her pregnancy. We are looking for a doctor today to check her out and make sure that everything is ok. Pray that she has strength to care for Brian through the night. There are many sleepless nights which are very taxing, especially for someone 8 months pregnant!
Pray that Brian has continued strength and perseverance in his daily rehab workouts.
Pray for Emily's family at home. Noreen is furiously working on trying to get the house ready for both Brian and Emily to return, but that means a huge facelift for handicapped accessability as well as a new baby. Noreen is planning on coming down to help with Emily this weekend, and we are still working on housing for her long term. I know that there is a way, and it seems that perhaps she can stay with my friends Carleigh and Bekah for a little while so hopefully we will find a more permanent solution.
Pray that we would all continue to walk in trust and faith, knowing that there is a God above who knows our ways and loves us.
thanks!
Katie

Hi Brian Emily and Katie,
I just love looking at all the pictures and reading everyone's comments. I know you have both always had great families but now you have a much larger extended family you never dreamed of! Craig, who is in my choir brought in a wireless headset for Brian yesterday. He went to the same college as Katie only a few years earlier. Isn't it amazing how God weaves our lives together? I will bring the headset when I see you next or send it by mail if it looks like it will be a while. So many people love and care for you and that poulation is growing by the minute.
What a wonderful job you are doing in so many ways. the Bible says something like this: "Press on toward the goal for which you are called heavenward." I can see that you are doing some of that every day." You are embracing your new life together and trying not to dwell on what was. Somehow, amidst the challenges of the time, I think there is a bigger prize than rehab. I don't know all God has in store for you but I sense it is BIG and wonderful!
Have a wonderful day and "Press on toward that goal"!
Lots of love,
marianne
HI BRIAN AND EMILY;
THIS HAS BECOME A DAILY RITUAL TO SEE HOW YOU THREE ARE DOING. I CAN'T START MY DAY WITHOUT CHECKING ON YOU GUYS. I HOPE THE BOSS WON'T FIRE ME FOR BEING ON THE COMPUTER WRITING TO YOU. (HA!HA!) IT WAS GOOD TO TALK TO YOU BOTH ON THE PHONE LAST NIGHT. WE GET NERVOUS WHEN WE DON'T HEAR FROM YOU. I GUESS YOU BOTH NEED A BREAK TOO. HOPE YOUR WEEK GOES BETTER. GRANDMA, NOR AND NAN ARE PLANNING ON VISITING THIS WEEKEND. I WISH I COULD GO TOO BUT WITH SKYLER IT IS A LITTLE DIFFICULT. HER BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEKEND. SHE WILL BE THE BIG "2". WE ARE HAVE A LITTLE PARTY FOR HER THIS WEEKEND. IT WILL BE FUN. I DON'T WANT TO GET TOO LONG. I WILL WRITE LATER IN THE WEEK. TAKE CARE AND KNOW THE WHOLE FAMILY IS THINKING OF YOU AND SENDS THEIR LOVE.
